Application Process
* We will email every writer a response to their application by the end of 2024. Due to the volume of applications we cannot give individual feedback on scripts.
* We will be holding interviews for shortlisted writers in November 2024.
* We will inform the successful three writers by the 20th December 2024.
* The programme will commence on 20th January 2025 and will finish at the end of July 2025.
* Bad Wolf will pair the successful writers with their mentors in January 2025 based on suitability. The writers will undertake 6 x 1 hour mentoring sessions with each of their mentors throughout the course of the scheme. The sessions will be arranged by Bad Wolf around the mentors’ availability.
Guidelines
* Submitted script extracts must be for an original TV drama or comedy drama pilot. The submitted script will be used only as a sample to get a sense of your voice, and will not be used for any part of the scheme. Samples may be sent in the Welsh or English language.
* Materials will be submitted via the application form, please do not email them separately. Please name your files: ‘Your Name - Your Script Title – Sample’ and ‘Your Name - Your Script Title – Pitch Document’
* The font size for all materials should be no less than 12. The script extract must end at 10 pages and should be of consecutive scenes (we’d recommend sending the first 10 pages). No material beyond the 10 pages will be considered.
* Please do not include artworks, illustrations or pictures in the materials.
* If successful, the idea you work on during the course will be a new idea for a contemporary drama set in Wales, i.e. different to the script that you submit with your entry.
* Submissions will be read and assessed by Bad Wolf readers and will be judged on the strength of the writing and originality of the story.
* Scripts and pitch documents must be submitted in a PDF format.
Judging Process
Stage One – Entries are distributed to Bad Wolf’s readers in October. The readers will assess the entries and they will be judged based on the originality of the idea and the strength of the writer’s voice.
Stage Two (Long-list) – Bad Wolf’s development team will read all reader recommended entries and will select a short-list of up to 10 writers to be interviewed. Please note full scripts will be requested if your script has been longlisted.
Stage Three (Short-list) – The shortlisted writers' scripts will be read by the senior development executives and executive producers and will be invited to an interview. Shortlisted writers will receive written feedback on their sample script if they are not selected for the scheme.
Stage Four (Finalists) – The three finalists will be selected based on their interviews and submitted materials.
