Intro

Adobe After Effects is a powerful tool that can simplify your work as an online editor. This session will cover some common, day-to-day tasks encountered in production and demonstrate how After Effects can streamline and enhance these processes when used alongside Media Composer.


Who is this course for:

This is an advanced Level session for anyone who is currently working as an Online Editor in the TV & Film industry.

This is the Online Editor Up-skill/CPD step of the Stepping Stone training programme into the TV & Film industry.

Assumed Knowledge - A working knowledge of Editing and what tasks are required to be an Online Editor


What we will be covering

In the training session we will be looking at the following:

  • An introduction to After Effects, its layout and tools
  • Creating and animating text
  • Split Screens / Picture-in-picture
  • Using and understanding Matte Types (Track mattes, Alpha and Luma and blending modes)
  • Paint Outs/Object Removal - Content Aware Fill
  • Blurring and mask tracking
  • Compositing - Chroma Keying
  • Rotoscoping / Rotobrush Tool
  • The Render Queue and Delivering back to Media Composer in your required codec/spec


Learning outcomes

Once completed you will have a better idea of what After Effects can and can’t do for the online edit and to use what it can do to make your work more efficient and to a higher standard. 


As a delegate on the course you will also be notified of any networking events run by ourselves or partners as well as having access to our fortnightly drop in session at Gorilla Academy.
