Facilities by ADF:

From 6 April 2024, it became law in Wales for all businesses to segregate their waste for recycling. In response to this pioneering legislation by the Welsh Government, the Location One team have tweaked their recycling hub so that it now features separate storage and colour systems for paper/ card and glass. These new streams can be stored with existing streams in our EcoPods and you can sleep sound at night knowing that they will be responsibly recycled. We have also added these new streams to your EcoPod reports. We’d like to take a moment to celebrate Wales for the meaningful action it takes on climate and biodiversity. There has been major investment in energy efficiency and renewable energy generation and Transport for Wales has made a commitment to 100% renewable electricity for all stations and electrification of tracks on the lines that serve the South Wales valleys, with half of this energy being produced in Wales. There is work underway to create a networked National Forest. We’re proud to play a part in Wales’ ambition to achieve the highest standards of social and environmental wellbeing for its citizens.

Real SFX :

During the quieter summer period, we have been strategically using this time to focus on our training commitment, which is a top priority for us at Real SFX. Two of our technicians have recently completed their next level of BECTU grading, enhancing their skills and expertise. Additionally, we have collaborated with SAW, who came into our workshop to film as part of our ongoing training initiative; this footage will be used in schools to inspire and educate the next generation.

Our KIT4CREW initiative has gained the support of the Guild of British Camera Technicians (GBCT), the Association of Camera Operators (ACO), and the British Society of Cinematographers (BSC) extending its success. The initiative was recently featured in British Cinematographer, where it was highlighted as a practical and admirable solution in the post-strike landscape, offering essential support to crew members starting out or facing financial challenges. The stock inventory is rapidly growing, thanks to generous donations in the boxes - which can be found on site at many locations, including Dragon Studios, Great Point Studios, Wolf Studios, SGIL Cymru and BBC Roathlock. The expansion of these resources ensures that we can provide even more comprehensive support to crew.

If you are a new production in Wales and would like to be part of KIT4CREW, or you are crew and in need of any kit please get in touch [email protected]

S4C:

If you are heading to the National Eisteddfod in RCT next month, come down and see the S4C Stand! They’ll be showing you highlights from some of their content, and you can even have a go sitting in the ‘Y Llais’ (The Voice) Chair!

Join S4C on 19th September for a showing of ‘Paid a Dweud Hoyw’ in Stwidio Fach yn Yr Egin which will be followed by a Q&A and interview with Stifyn Parri and Gruffudd Evans. Stifyn Parri made headlines in the 80’s whilst he played one half of a gay couple who shared a kiss on British TV for the first time ever. Stifyn will also be doing a book signing, finishing up the evening with a performance from Betsan Haf!

He spent the day, alongside Wales Screen Academy Manager, Bethan who spoke with people about the TV and Film Industry here in Wales. Many came to chat about potential career opportunities, and other came to get a look at our buddy Hester (from His Dark Materials) or to get some pretty cool scars from our SFX Makeup stand.
