Movietech and William F. White International join forces in the UK Film and Television rental market

Leading independent UK camera, lens, and grip rental specialist, Movietech is pleased to announce its acquisition by Sunbelt Rentals.

Through its North American business, Sunbelt Rentals already owns film and television production rental specialists William F. White International Inc. (WFW) and this strategic acquisition of Movietech will allow both these film and television specialists to leverage their respective areas of expertise as Sunbelt Rentals launches its UK strategy in this exciting sector.

Movietech Chairman, John Buckley, commented, “We are delighted to join the team at Sunbelt Rentals. Having enjoyed a long-standing relationship with our friends and colleagues at WFW in North America, we are certain this represents a perfect opportunity for Movietech to offer a scaled-up version of the respected boutique-style service we are known to provide.

“With our existing team, supported by the amazing teams at WFW and Sunbelt Rentals, Movietech now has a fantastic platform to grow our range of product and services, with the breadth and depth necessary to impact this diverse and dynamic production market. We look forward to delivering these resources to new and existing customers and the wider filmmaking community.”

The team at Movietech
We value the support we recieve from Movietech ever so much, and wish them all the best with this new venture!

Andy Wright, Sunbelt Rentals UK CEO, echoes the sentiment: “We wholeheartedly welcome Movietech to the larger Sunbelt Rentals family. This builds on our film and television rental business, WFW in Canada, as we expand into the UK and US where the vast majority of the world’s production takes place, while further enhancing the cross-selling attributes with the broader Power of Sunbelt platform.”

The senior team will remain with Movietech to ensure a smooth integration of the business and look after its clients, with WFW Vice President, Camera and Virtual Production, Trevor Huys, overseeing the operations. “Our business revolves around the relationships we have with our clients. They trust us,” says Trevor. “This is what we see and know of Movietech, having worked with them in the past. With a shared purpose and set of values, our employees and clients will only benefit from our combined reach and expertise. We are looking forward to the future!”

We at Screen Alliance Wales wish Andy and the team at Movietech all the best with this new venture and cant wait to see what the future holds for this fantastic company. Movietech have been one of our closest sponsors for years now, and we love to work alongside them whenever we get the opportunity.
